2005 Audi A6 test drive
overall

The 2005 Audi A6 is all new and has the goods to be a compelling driver’s car.
The Audi A6 is all new for the 2005 model year, and it’s got the styling, powertrains, and performance to stand up to anything else coming out of Germany these days. The new A6 is larger, faster, and better looking than its predecessor. Its longer wheelbase improves its performance as well as its style.
The 2005 Audi A6 is offered with two different engines: A 3.2-liter V6 with 255 horsepower and a 4.2-liter V8 with 345 horsepower. Both are paired with a standard six-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox and Quattro all-wheel drive.
The A6 targets at new-car buyers wanting a sporty premium sedan. It competes with the BMW 5 Series, Volvo S80, and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Some buyers may cross-shop the A6 against the Lexus GS as well, but it's the all-wheel drive system that will ultimately push the Audi over the top.

The 2005 Audi A6 can be summed up in two words, luxurious fun. Back the car out of the garage and drive comfortably to work or the grocery store. Cruising speeds are easily reached with the 3.1L V6 direct injected engine (don't be fooled by the 3.2 badging). If you want to have more fun, simply press your foot to the floor and all 255 horses come to life and push you back in your seat. Now, it's not Lamborghini or Bugatti fast, but the Volkswagen Group has done a brilliant job trickling down technology to more pedestrian vehicles like the A6. Handling is spot on for daily driving and will handle just about anything you can throw at it with the help of Audi's Quattro AWD. Brakes are smooth and responsive with little fade. Visibility is very good and even better when the A6 is equipped with the backup camera. Optional adaptive headlights help with visibility at night, especially when taking it out for some evening canyon carving. Overall, Audi did a superb job with the styling and driving dynamics. This is a real winner for the everyday driver and when you want to have a bit of fun.

massive boot, safe to handle, very comfortable ride, lots of legroom for rear passengers, very stable on the road, great for long journeys, no external road noise, fairly economic on fuel, quality build materials, service expensive, cant trust dealer services, overall its a quality car, which is good for a family or executive.

I've only had this car a little over six months so it's a little early to provide a great deal of feedback. Unfortunately this car was designed before aux I puts were common. Surprisingly, the Bluetooth works with my iphone. Phone only, no music. Overall I like it, but like I mentioned above, the front seats could be more comfortable.

The look of the Audi A6 is classic. It's sleek design with soft edges can turn heads. There's plenty of leg room and the room in the trunk is spacious. The AWD quattro makes driving it a lot of fun. What I wish it had was more reliable electronics.
