The Outlander receives a more power version of the 2.4 liter engine this year, but this compact crossover SUV is otherwise unchanged.
The 2.4 liter inline four has been boosted to 160 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. A four-speed automatic continues to be the only transmission option, but a manual shift feature is also included. Fuel economy has also improved slightly, and is now estimated at 20/26 mpg.
The Outlander continues with four styles, but Mitsubishi is planning to expand the model lineup for 2005. This year, buyers may choose between the XL, XL AWD, XLS, or the XLS AWD. The XL comes with all the basic necessities, like full power accessories, cruise control, a split-folding rear seat, a CD player and a full size spare. The XLS adds a few upscale touches, like keyless entry and alloy wheels, and is eligible for options like a sunroof and premium with an Infinity sound system.
Many reviewers have listed interior and cargo room as the Outlander's best feature. Unfortunately, the folding seat will not go completely flat, which may hinder some loading needs. There are numerous pockets and compartments for additional storage. The Outlander's tall cabin offers ample headroom for both front and rear riders, but leg room may be a little cramped for taller passengers.

(8 reviews)I love my Outlander and wouldn't trade it in for the world. You can't beat the gas milage and I think that my SUV does better than my previously owned Chrysler Sebring! It's great for the cost, traveling, going anywhere with the 2 dogs, or just running to the grocery store!
Perfect package for roominess, economy and durability. Durable and powerful 4 cyl. Engines and transmissions hold up with the best. Mits was way ahead of everybody when they came out with this product. '04 and newer has the more powerful engines.
its my mom's car... but anyway, very reliable given mitsu's rep. decent low end torque (may need a little planning when passing at low speeds, tho), handles much more like a car rather than an SUV, and we have never gotten below 22MPG (mostly city driving, too).the outlander is good alternative to competitors like the RAV-4 and CR-V.
This gets much better gas mileage than my Dodge Ram did. Its not too big or small. The four of us fit in here and have room for other belongings. The All wheel drive holds the road well.
Got a great deal on the car. I like the nice interior. It has plenty of power for a 4 cylinder. It handles great, more like a car than an suv. It is a great value for the money. It's also my favorite color combination, blue with gray two tone. It is pretty roomy for a compact suv/crossover.
