Used 2003 Ford Expedition XLT 4WD for Sale near Lexington, KY
3.5 Overall rating
(7 reviews)I've used this for hauling trailers, boats, other cars and trucks, and lots of people. I've never had any down time with it. Absolutely reliable. As the saying goes, "built Ford tough." The interior is fairly basic, no frills. This was a Special Service package, intended for police and fire department use. The tow package has been worth its weight in gold. I've hauled some serious weight over long distances, up mountains and never had a single issue with the Expedition. Maintenance is an absolute breeze, well thought-out engineering and design. I've since sold my Expedition but have committed to buying another one soon, as this was among my favorite SUVs ever.
My expedition is a retired sheriff search & rescue k-9 unit that came with all the maintenance records. The computer was flashed at ford to increase performance and I added a high voltage ignition sys and throttle body spacer to gain 29+ mpg on the highway. With it being a government truck they kept very good maintenance on it with full records. I’ve had no break downs or worn parts due to its time as a k-9 unit. Search & rescue units seem to have less wear and abuse than patrol or drug enforcement units.
I Love the options that mine has, I'm really short & I love that the peddles come to me at the push of a button! I'm love that the seats fold down and lay flat and you can move anything in to! it's great 8 people or lots of stuff!
the ford expadition is a poor excuse for a vehicle the brakes under perform the motor is under powered for the weight of the vehicle and it gets a little less then 14 miles to the gallon which is shamful for anything as new as this i have nothing against ford just go with something smaller and better designed
This car can be summed up in one title- Behemoth. Heavy in every sense of the word; slow off the line, sluggish turning and braking and just an overall lethargic feel. The car is bulletproof. It can jump curbs, bowl over small trees or bottom out with no noticeable ill effects. Crappy gas mileage on the Triton V8 and the thing is ugly as sin. I was entirely underwhelmed with the car, but it has its uses.
