Reviewed a 2003 Chevrolet LT 4WD on Oct 20, 2012
This big safe family suv drives extremely well once you add a K&N filter to it. It's a massive cardboard air-filter originally and it chokes the engine. Just buy a high quality airfilter like K&N or something even nicer and then it can spin up to 6K rpms in seconds and really go. It has a lot more pickup in the 4.2L inline then you would expect. Smooth comfortable ride. The suspension is a good set from the factory, but they wear out at about 70k with normal city use. The springs were also shot and needed to be replaced. The brakes lasted forever, I remember pulling the tires off at 75K and looking at half the pad still there and shaking my head going "really?" The need for the aftermarket high quality air filter is pretty extreme. When we first bought the Chevy it has so little power that we considered returning it to the dealer. After just the air filter change it went from sluggish and horrid to a high revving joy. It isn't a sports car by any means but it is a decent drive.
