Drivers love the 2003 Impala, from the powerful engines to the little touches such as the signal indicating low windshield wiper fluid. The engines remained the same as they had since the car's return in 2000: a 3.4-liter, 180-horsepower V6 in the standard car, and a 3.8-liter, 200-horsepower V6 in the LS. The standard engine continued to get excellent mileage, at 21 city/32 highway, and the LS followed closely behind at 19/29. These numbers allowed the 2003 Impala to continue to lead its class for fuel economy. The car is extremely spacious, and-especially for a reasonably priced car-fairly luxurious. Available leather seats and satellite radio can add an even more luxurious feel to the ride. Gauges are clear and easy-to-read. All in all, an excellent buy.
