102 BHP is not very stunning, but more than enough to go along with traffic. The car is very comfortabel, and though it is very heavy, it is very pleasent and easy to drive. You can feel it stick to the road as you go through tough corners. The 1.9 Turbo-D engine needs only 6.5liter per 100km. What I don't like about the car is the turning radius (11.5m) which is too big. Also the space in the trunk is a bit small for being a stationwagon.

Great comfy cruiser/commuting vehicle, Good on fuel economy and space. Starting to look a little dated and ken to trade up but the 1.8 engine is one of the best economy speaking and a step up means a 2.0 - 2.4 litre. Reliable, trustworthy, safe, comfortable - go for the best spec possible. The SE is fully loaded (Leather, Heated Seats, Cruise Control etc). Love the car.

Performance: When tuned up properly and serviced regularly, even tho' it's only a "low pressure" Turbo, it ROCKS! Build Quality: What you would expect from the "entry level" of the Volvo line...it tries hard to look more upscale than it is, and pulls it off....nice fake wood! Apperance: love the fact it looks like a "generic (read "boring") family wagon.....that will just eat up boy racer types for dinner! Cost of ownership: Premium gasoline only is the biggest drawback, but then again, the cost of having the turbo pulled and cleaned on a regular basis if you run it on regular octane is more expensive in the long run. Fun Factor: a definite "10"...comfy when you need it to be, nippy when you want it to be..with room for the whole family and a bunch of gear too...nice enough for the coutry club, but not out of place country camping. *EXTRA INFO: A few little quirks and issues: After 9 years of rough daily use, push buttons seem to stick a bit (Trunk latch, locks, hazards, winter-mode button), but probably not too bad for a car that only gets washed and cleaned 2 times a year. Biggest fault...the cup under the springs on the rear coil overs could do with a few extra drainage holes...they tend to collect all that nasty Canadian road salt spray and rust out the bottom of the springs....Changed tham twice in the last 6 years. (maybe its a hint to wash the car more!)

Performance is great and can get better if you spend some euros. Exterior is nothing special, but that is just a good thing. You won't get the wrong kind attention... Overall this is a fun car to drive and it has sleeper potential.
