Despite its stylistic shortcomings, the 2001 Saturn L-Series continued to focus on safety and performance. Changes from 2000 included optional front and rear curtain airbags, a larger 15.7 gallon fuel tank (up from 13.1 gallons), and a center seat belt in the back row. As for semantics, the L-Series added 4 new colors to the lineup. In addition, Saturn restructured the names for the 5 trims. Consumers could now choose from the L100, L200, and L300 sedans, as well as the LW200 and LW300 wagons.
Otherwise, Saturn maintained the same formula from the previous year. The 100 and 200 trims use a 2.2 L, 135 hp I4 engine. In addition, these lower grade trims get you 24 mpg in the city, 33 mpg on the highway. The 300 trims use a 3.0 L, 182 hp V6 engine with standard 4 speed automatic and get you 20 mpg in the city, 26 mpg on the highway. All trims seat 5. Cargo space in the sedans held steady from the previous year at 17.5 cubic feet while it increased to 33.5 cubic feet in the wagons.
Overall, 2001 Saturn L-Series owners say that they appreciate Saturn's continued commitment to value. As with other Saturn models, reviewers would like to see a more stylish exterior and interior. Engine noise also occasionally pops up as an issue. Despite these lingering concerns, those who do not mind Saturn's conservative updates and no-frills approach will like this solid midsize option.

(20 reviews)The vehicle has performed well and handles okay. The appearance is great and the ride is comfortable. Not much noise, the gas mileage is great and the repair are fair. The performance like accerleration, braking, and handling is okay and is fun to drive.
I've owned this car since 2004. When I bought it it was 3 years old and had 65000 miles on it. Since then, it's been a dependable car. Started every morning, still handles well, great 28 mpg, low maintenance. I will miss this car once I sell it.
This car has been a tank. I have owned it for 10 years, and it has run well all ten years. The exterior is still in great shape with no signs of rust. The interior has held up to a family with 2 small children.
hello Performance: really good, could be faster, handles most excellent Build Quality: rough and noisy Appearance: i like it, low front end and sun roof Cost of Ownership: keep having problems, all electric Fun Factor: very fun, sporty and quick
This sturdy vehicle has given us some trouble, but so far it has been doing it's job for us. :) It will have to do for a little longer.
