4.5 Overall rating
(8 reviews)GT1 75th Anniversary Edition. Awesome car for the price. Already moderately customized; Modified Borla exhaust, lowered suspension, strut tower braces front and rear, short ram intake utilizing ram air, 10% tint all around, BFGoodrich g-Force Sport summer tires, debadged, to name a few. Great power and handling, stock brakes tend to have warped rotors (front) but I'll either get drilled/slotted stock rotors, or do the Corvette brake upgrade. Somewhat high maintenance, expensive repairs occasionally, but overall and awesome car
Decent car - lacks horsepower compared to most cars in its class but has served me well for over six years.
In the performance department, the Grand Am is fair. It's acceleration is enough to make the drive exciting. Braking is less than ideal due to poor caliper design. That can be remedied with small but efficient part upgrades. Handling is somewhat sluggish for the car's size and weight, but again aftermarket provides a noticeable improvement in this area. The build quality for these cars is exceptional because of its perceived market. While in production it took a large portion of the midsized market. To accomplish this it needed to last. The appearance of the vehicle varies through the models, with the GT model being the sleekest. With some small modifications it can be a very smooth sleek looking vehicle. As far as cost of ownership goes, there are a few maintenance issues that these cars seem to need on a regular basis. However once properly attended to, the car performs well. These cars are fun to drive, simple to work on, and they have a larger fan base than publicly known.
I've owned two. First one was a silver 01 SE coupe 2.4L. Ran well and lasted me 6years and is still running but I sold it to buy another Grand Am. I bought it used and put over 100k on it. It started having small problems here and there like any other car after high mileage and old age. I maintained it well, I got my moneys worth out of it and it was/still is a great car. The one I drive now is an 01 jet black GT1 Coupe, 75th anniversary edition. I got it for an amazing deal and its in great shape with low miles. Its twice as sharp. The package you get makes a good difference. After owning both theres not question I like the 3.4L better. Has great power and still gets great mpg. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY CAR!!
This car is a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT 75th anniversary edition coupe. The car is silver with a grey leather interior. Fully optioned out and drives nicely. Engine replacement at about 150k miles for a blown head. Drives great, but needs some paint work and interior repairs. frequently has radiator problems, but has not overheated in the past 50k miles.
