This is a 150 MPH autobahn killer lets not beat about the bush. Available with 2 engines in the UK there is a 3.2 and a 4 litre V8. The 4 litre is the clear choice, 0-60 appears in a rapid 6 and a bit seconds and tops out at 150MPH. The 4 litre has very similar MPg to the 3.2. There is no wind noise or road noise even at 120-130 MPH. If you have a motorway commute this is the car for you. Remember new these cars were £45,000 to £55,000 (1998-2003 production run) so you can expect parts and servicing to cost a little more than a ford etc. Converted to gas, like mine is these are a very viable car.

This is the last of the lower XJ series and has a more purposeful and balanced look than the later version. Everything just works quietly, whether it is in a slow queue or cruising at 120+ on a motorway, which means you get in at one end and get out at the other quite relaxed. When it's clean you can park it next to anything with pride if you don't mind being a little dated in others' eyes.
