with a little work the suspension was able to be set for great handling what it lacked on power it made up for in the corners. a real blast to drive. I never had any quality problems durring the time that I owned it and that included 5 seasons of auto Xs

This car has excellent handling and is great on gas. It's power is respectable for only having 4 cylinders. It is super light, and you know if there is a breeze. The acceleration is OK, but this is just the base model. It takes corners on a dime. The vehicle is very reliable, and even with high mileage has not given me any majors problems. When gas was $4 a gallon, I was not hurting. This car is a great value, and is a good balance for somebody who doesn't want to pay a high cost in maintenance but still wants something that looks good and has enough power. I'm not saying you'll beat a Mustang, but you won't pay nearly that much to drive it. I should mention space. Many of my friends had difficulty getting in and out of this vehicle, and were very uncomfortable in it. I am 5'4" and 100 lbs. so this was no concern for me.

The Gen 7 Celica is the last decent sports coupe that Toyota made. The engine is something else with it's cam profiles. Drive it normally and it's quiet, smooth and delivers a good MPG, but take the rev counter to the top quarter and it starts to snarl and wail like a banshee. 140 BHP squeezed from a NA 1800cc engine is pretty good. The cabin is a bit dull, but doesn't offend. Everything is well screwed together with no squeeks or rattles coming from the trims. This car does look the part as long as it has the rear spoiler and optional side skirts (which mine does) and they set the style really well. Modern yet subtle. It's not a shouty car unless of course, you plant your foot down onto the throttle pedal. It's sharp and responsive normally in stock form but there's plenty of potential for springs and engine parts to be replaced with uprated parts (if that's your thing) Big boot so getting a large load transported isn't a problem and up front, there is loads of space. Just don't get in the back unless you're shorter than 5ft tall. Believe me, you are not going to fit!
