Used 1999 Volvo V70 XC Turbo AWD for Sale near Apache Junction, AZ

This car thinks it's a tank. Sturdy frame has absorbed collisions from front and back with little damage. Other vehicles towed away while the Volvo drives off. Handles well on both dry and wet roads. Loves to play in the snow. Quirky electronics required far too many new bulbs and fuses when first bought. Transmission replaced before car reached 75,000 miles. Had much better results with an independent mechanic rather than the local dealership.

Performance is not too impressive, but a nice muscular feel with the turbo. The combined lag from the AWD and the turbo can get a bit frustrating. Handling is decent, brakes are decent. But be warned: Its a heavy car, and it shows in both areas. Superb bad weather car. Build quality is typical Volvo: Outstanding. Appearances are pretty modest, but I rather like it. Repairs can be a bit costly, and gas mileage is in the low 20s. Fun factor: 5/10

Slow off the line, handles better then a truck, accelerates fast after turbo is spooled. However its a bit dowdy looking, but very comfortable. The power trains on Volvos are solid, however many of the ford made accessories are not, over $1000 in repairs in a year from the neglect of the previous owner, runs great now; needed fluids changed, radiator, and brakes and rotors. Therefore costs of ownership are obviously higher, including the sub par gas millage of 24 highway, 19 city. Since the car is lifted and the suspension is stiffened, its about as fun to drive average american sedan. Insurance is just about the cheapest of any car.

---DO NOT SERVICE CARS AT DEALERS, $$--- Its a great suv alternative, and great for us that live in the snow belt. repairs are like any other European import. 17 city/26 HWY. drives like great, enough power. Would buy it anyday over a new kia/ford focus. 170k on my car, the big repairs so far: ball bearing, rear self leveling shocks, and now a bent brake rotor. Also various small maintenance, timing belt, brakes, plugs and wire, burnt out electronics, ect.

i find the performance is really up there for a family car, braking is great, handling is high average. i love the apperance. Yes its a fun car, better when there is fresh snow and drift around corners with the AWD. gas milage not bad in the city but highway great. Planning to put 18" dual exhaust, tint the rear doors and windows, AND a nice sound system subs amps component speakers. Maybe even a white LED underbodykit. lol ...
