Reviewed a 1999 Ford 4 Dr LX Sedan on Jun 15, 2008

The Ford Contour I bought runs good and is comfortable to drive, but the parts on it are extremely cheaply made and break very easily, especially the handles to roll up the windows. All 4 of them broke and I can only get them at the dealer, for $16.00 each. That's insane! On top of that, the majority of the parts that break are only available from the dealer at HUGE prices. The dipstick broke because it is made of cheap plastic, and it broke off right at the dipstick tube, so I almost didn't get it out. The dashboard curled up due to heat from the sun and can't be fixed, only replaced (by the dealer of course). The car has been a constant annoyance and I can't wait to trade it in on a non-Ford auto as soon as possible. I HATE this car and now I know why everybody rags on Fords. They are very cheaply built and you can't get replacement parts anywhere except the dealer.
