So, I've already opined ad nauseum about the merits of Volvo's in my two previous Volvo posts. After selling my Ford Five Hundred, I just got a hankerin' for another Volvo. I ideally wanted a 140 Series, 240 Series or 940 Series wagon, but couldn't find a clean example in my price range that didn't require a flight across the country. While I would have gladly flown to some distant state for a good mid-70's 145 with A/C, my wife would have none of that. Oh well. I found this S90 locally, bought it from the original owner who absolutely babied it. And although the Scandanavian cubist design was starting to get a bit old by 1998, one thing that they got spot on was the interior. It is absolutely fantastic. The soft, supple leather seats with suede inserts completely coddle their occupants. And the tasteful, real wood accents would not look out of place in a car costing much, much more. And while I was a bit uncertain about the Volvo 24-valve V-6 engine, they had gotten all the kinks worked out by the '98 model year, and it's nice having some power in a Volvo. Especially in 'Sport' mode! The car is barely middle-aged in terms of mileage, and I'm sure I'll tire of it long before it's in need of retirement. Next go-round, I might even check out something from Volvo's Ford era. Maybe.

This was my first venture into the Volvo luxury end and I say I am most impressed with the Volvo S90. This is true undestated elegance and a car one can take anywhere. I have used this car to pick up executives at terminals and never a word of discontent. And when it has to be parked by Valet jockeys all I hear is sweet ride and that is from young guys and several of them have wanted to know more about this S90. Yep one can pull up to the Breakers on Palm Beach with total confidence, How many 15 year old cars fall into that category, none I can think of.

When it comes down to it, all that Volvo's are known for is true ! Built very well in and out as compared to many American vehicles...In addition to an all around great car....standard features will get you insurance discounts too !!

bought this car used with 93,000 miles, it looks and drives very nice, very strong body and engine, transmission shifts like butter. had a problem with suspension having a noise, replacing rubber bushings and rack&pinion did not fix problem. the shifter mechanism is not the best, too many small parts and mostly plastic, the push rod broke and the bypass button did not work. replacing rod and brake switch fixed problem.

This car was given to me. I really appreciate it as I am on a fixed income. Rides great, pick up great. To repair the car is totally out of my price range. I know things need to be fixed every now and then. Overall I really like the car.
