About 1998 Dodge Avenger
The 1998 Dodge Avenger still comes in two models, the base and ES, both available with a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, 140-horsepower engine or the V6, 2.5-liter, 163-horsepower engine. Fuel economy remains around 20/28. The biggest draw of this 2-door coupe is definitely its stylish look. The design combines a sleek sporty exterior with a comfortable interior that fits four. The major change in the 1998 Avenger is a Sport package available for base models, which basically gives you the V6 engine and creature comforts (air conditioning, power locks and windows) that were standard on the ES. The ABS system is now optional for all models. 1998 also offers more colors for both the interior and exterior. While it provides an exciting driving experience, Avenger's owners are still hoping for a V6 offered with a 5-speed transmission. Currently the 5-speed is only available with the 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter engine. Minor gripes include a noisy ride and wide turn ratios.
