Great power and tourque. Gas mileage is pretty crappy, but it makes up for it in looks and performance. Great for camping and cruising thru any terrain. Fun to drive! 4:10 gears, front and back. Welded rear spindle. 4 inch lift with 35's

This is my 3rd Suburban. For the family, long trips and being an all around people mover you can't beat it. You can get fancier but you'll be worrying about stupid things like scratches. It's a 'get it done' type of SUV. I love mine. Every year something happens that proves that I can't find a better ride. The one day a year there is a blizzard in my town, my wife went into labor and I had to drive through 5 foot snow banks and into oncoming traffic uphill (in 4wd) to get her to the hopsital. Other cars were sliding off the road right in front of me. After a storm the other day a huge tree fell in our yard, leaning up against another tree almost taking it out. No problem, get out the tow straps and wrap it around the tree to pull it down (in 4wd). Not to mention when the wife wants new funiture, guess how it gets home? A grown man just can't drive anything else.

I never thought I'd own this Suburban this long, but it has served me well. Its large, can haul an enormous amount and tow a 28' Boat with ease. Around town it gets between 16-18 mpg with the A/C ON! and on the freeway about 20 mpg doing 65. It's comfortable and safe. Unfortunately, GM choose not to continue fitting a Diesel in an SUV (other than the $100,000 + Hummer H1) after 1999, so I have kept it because it can't really be replaced. Ford offered the Excursion Diesel, is almost too big if you plan on having to park in a parking space, plus, it doesn't ride as smooth as the Suburban, and the 6.0 engines were not reliable.

So much room for upgrades, tight radius, and good handling for a SUV. Braking leaves a little to be desired. No repairs after 6 years. Not a fan of the body, but i can't argue with the seating. Gas is a downside, but not when your parents pay "). I enjoy driving it, but I would rather a Eclipse.
