Performance is decent at low speeds, could use more passing power. 4.0l engine prone to oil leaks. Repairs are cheap as everything interchanges with the Ford Ranger. Mile is around 26 highway and 18 city. Manual transmission provides better economy than automatic. Overall a decent little truck.

I love the look of this truck. Its sleek looking in black (and other colors) and with the chrome strips on the extended cabs. Extended cab best looking out of all cab options. All in all a beefy looking truck. Great handeling, Great suspension controll. Engine runs as if new with 130,000+ miles on it. the only problem i have is the clutch grabbing and not activating when i stop and push in clutch occasionally. Harder to shift now after 130,000+ miles, (mainly because a slave cylinder issue.) Stick shift . Driver airbag only. Over all great, sharp truck.

Well, I have way to much money in my 02 Jeep to truly take it through some trails......so I bought my mazda for cheap and she gulps up the mud. This truck really surprised me to say the least. When buying this truck, I planned to take it through light mud/wet fields and things of the like. As I continued to try out the 4x4 in harder and harder places, I found out that it works unusually well for a ranger/b4000. I really think I must have gotten lucky with this 4x4 system. Everyone that watches me asks if I have lockers-and I dont. when I try to turn the mazda around in a dry spot while 4 wheel is engaged, it wont happen. This thing locks up hard and it's all stock except for my "custom" front bumper modification. This thing KILLS stock Toyota Tacomas in the mud- i've done it numerous times. Dont believe me? Bring it on Toyota man! Ha Ha....As for the performance of the B4, I dont think it is rightfully compared...mine is not all that great accelleration wise, and it is a manual trans with a not-so-great clutch. My friend has a ranger with the same motor that would kill mine in a race- theres something a tacoma will win at....barely.
