This model is a wonderful combination of power and longevity both on the road and off. I opted for the 4WD Inline-6 model for the reason of the engine's reputation. The 4.0 Jeep engine has received wonderful reviews from multiple organizations and auto magazines in its time. It is a large and very functional motor providing sufficient horsepower for the classic feel of Jeep acceleration, and enough torque for a fun weekend off-road.

over all i would rate this jeep four out of five stars. Looks great is outfitted with the powerful 318, 8cyl. Hwy 21mpg at approx 70 mph. Has a nice looking interior, which is comfortable aswell. All controls are easily accessible and this vehicle is a pleasure to drive. If there was one thing I would pick on the negative side is that this 97 jeep is packed full of eclectronics which tend to be on the expensive side to fix to repair so if your the handy man type this will help out a great deal.

The SUV comes with a 5.2L V8 that has around 220hp from the factory. The full time all wheel drive works wonders in the snow. The braking is average for and SUV and its handling is about the same. The body is more square than rounded so its visual appeal is limited. The maintenance is top of the line. The SUV has just over 280,000 miles on it and the only major problem was the transmission that went at around 150,000. Other than that all it has required is general up keep and a fuel pump. The gas mileage for a V8 is better than i could have ever hoped for. Around town it averages about 18mpg and on the highway it averages 22mpg. The interior is fully loaded and suited for long rides.

Performance wise it depends on the motor you decide to go with the straight 6 aka 4.0 wise ideal for daily use 5.2 is good for power and offroad and towing 5.9 is offroad and also a great street jeep for speed Build wise its great needs some little things here and there but what car doesnt Apperance wise they have a interesting love it or hate it type of look but its all Jeep Cost Of Owner Ship depends on what you use it for Fun Factor Its A Jeep Need I Say More?
