The 1996 Toyota Land Cruiser saw no significant changes for the model year. However, that year marked the first time Lexus offered its own vehicle based on the Land Cruiser, the LX 450.

This particular model, equipped with the turbo diesel, can be expected to run into the typical issues associated with aging turbo technology. Also, seen by many in the off-road community as less capable than its Land Cruiser twin. All told, still a fantastic vehicle for the casual off-roader who appreciates the uniqueness of this nostalgic 90s overland vehicle.

I have come to love this car as I would a child. Don't talk about performance. Horrible acceleration, zero roadholding but, my God, what a great sense of warmth and security. This car has been all over Thailand, into the jungle, through Bangkok floods and nothing has ever stopped it. Except for the replacement of some parts, it has been like a tank. Love, love, love.

My kids have loved being in this truck as well. Its comfortable for them. there is a large sunroof, which makes for nice summer drives with all the windows down. We like to take it up to the mountains and off road it sometimes as well..

Engine is powerful and 4WD capability allows it to go anywhere! Acceleration is limited - big SUV, cost is reasonable! great to take out to the country and rough roads. The land cruiser is big! It says - "Get out of my way"!
