Performance: 1.8ti is quite quick, the backbox gave a lovely exhaust note to it. Brakes were very strong, handled Ok in a flat road, it was just too low to drive properly. Build Quality: Very good. Appearance: Wearing its miles (198k) very well, was in lovely condition. All the mods looked really nice. Cost Of Ownership: Good on Petrol and cheap to insure. Fun Factor: Great fun, turned lots of heads.

great fun , great handling, awsome noise, absolute money pit, new engine bushings, window regulators, gear linkages, powerflow system makes my car rediculously loud but the twincam sounds excellent on full tilt. very sore on juice, but puts a smile on my face every weekend i climb into it!!

It's reliable, tough, and easy to work on. But it's slow, the windows always come off track, and the temperature control cable has a weak connection. The car is fun to drive with the rear wheel drive and light weight. It gets about 30 mpg on the highway. Repairs are relatively expensive because it is a bmw but if you get a 1995 the engine is more reliable than the 96-99. I have had no major mechanical failures on my 318ti despite hard driving on a regular basis.

Not very fast in a straight but amazing in the corners and fun in the snow when you have an LSD. Doesn't get as much mileage as I hoped, roughly 30mpg. The stock "pseudo" leather suede seats are not very comfortable.
