I'd always wanted a Chrysler LH car, and finally found a good deal on one. It exceeded my expectations in just about every area. Handling was way better than I expected, as was gas mileage, and performance. Only thing I didn't like were the brakes. They seemed under-assisted with a very heavy pedal feel. Performance grade brake pads helped tremendously, but having drum rear brakes still made it a weak point. I had gotten as high as 33 MPG with it, and averaged in the high 20s. I had the base 3.3L V6, which was all but indestructible. Only failure it ever had was a water pump at 160,000 miles. Only reason I sold it is I wanted something more mod-friendly, and performance parts for an Intrepid were nonexistant.

The Intrepid debuted with a lot of hype, representing "The New Dodge." In reality, it is just plain average. Average acceleration, braking, and handling. Build quality showed typical deterioration, and the front end wasn't as strong in the demo derby as I had hoped it would be. Some people thought this car looked cool and futuristic, I just thought it looked edgy and weird (generation 2 intrepids look much better IMO). Gas mileage was similar to other cars in it's class. If you have one of these with high mileage, expect a few large expenses (like suspension components, bearings, brakes, possibly a transmission) but aside from that it was pretty reliable, didn't have sludge issue like gen 2 intrepids. Not particularly fun to drive, but had cool dash and gages and good visibility, so it was sort of neat to drive.
