Overview

The 1991 Mercedes-Benz 350-Class was available in two configurations: the 350SD (for sedan diesel) and the slightly more luxurious 350SDL version. Both included the automaker's 3.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine, which provided more power at higher speeds than standard diesels. An inline 6-cylinder engine, it generated 134 hp.
Standard features for the 1990 350-Class included a 4-speed automatic transmission, anti-lock brakes, power windows, power door locks, and air conditioning. Other features included bucket seats, a driver's-side airbag, fog lights, a telescopic steering wheel, cruise control and alloy wheels.
Drivers comment on the heaviness of the car, although they usually note that it handles well on the road and gets good gas mileage for a car its size.

The fit and finish, both interior and exterior, of the 1991 350SDL was as fine as could be. The 3,800 lb car got almost 30 miles per gallon (when diesel was about 90 cents, or maybe about $1.50 today). There was room for elderly bank trust customers to ride most comfortably in the back. The car held up well to the harsh New England climate, but, as with all Mercedes, had no traction in snow.
