solid build, basic but good on gas mileage

This was an old car so the interior was terrible but it was my first car! And it had the 1.1 engine which was quite pokey. It had previouly had a dashbourd fire which bubbled the inside of the windscreen and damaged the paint on the roof. Not much went wrong with it though.

Total rot box, unreliable as hell, timing tends to wonder, the only car I have ever driven that I had to fix by hitting the engine with a hammer, lousy ride, terryfing at high speed.

This car had awfuul gear linkage and was a learner drivers nightmare!

I had a sexy new silver XR2, which stuck to road like sh1t to a blanket. For the time it was a great street racer and saw off many a larger car while dodging around the streets of north london. For a young twenty something it was one of the must have cars, that or a 205 GTI. the only thing I would have added was recaro seats. Tuning would be fun, but it was good enough anyway. I had another in 1987 which I turboed, now that was very different.
