Overview

The 1979 Wagoneer had three engine options were available, depending on the amount of power the original owner wanted. Now, many of those engines are just sitting there, waiting for someone to take them out, dust them off, feed them some gas, and let them race around. The AMC 401, 360 and the 258 cubic inch I-6 engines came with one of three matching transmissions, a 3 speed manual, a 4 speed manual, and a 3 speed automatic. These options allowed a combination for just about anyone's specific circumstances, and most of them are still around today. The 1979 Jeep Wagoneer is almost 30 years old, but it can still function with the best of them, as long as you don't mind the gas price, and needing to fix the 30-year-old parts that will break. But that's why restoration is fun, isn't it? And it's not as if you'd be missing too many of the conveniences of buying a modern car. The 1979 Jeep Wagoneer has air conditioning, cruise control, a power rear window, and a cassette player you could attach a CD player to. In a snowstorm, you'll be happy for the 4WD. Jeep Wagoneers have always handled well in the snow and even won the 1973 SnoDrift competition. Whether you're looking for some off-road fun, or a reliable, safe commuter car in a snowy climate, the 1979 Jeep Wagoneer could be a perfect SUV for you, if you're willing to do the repairs all old vehicles need.

This jeep could be a great family camping rig, it could even be fine for 4 wheeling if the trails are big enough. Other then the fact that it needs some work to get back on the road it still an all original Wagoneer.
