Overview
After making a huge, kind of gaudy splash in 1959, the 1960 Chevrolet Impala had a more subtle look. Of course, this isn't saying much. Still covered in ornate tailfins and chrome, the car was still eye-catchingly gorgeous, but not quite as much "styling" as the 1959 model. 204,467 sport coupes were produced, and 79,903 convertibles, making it the most popular car in the country. The base engine stayed the same for the third straight year: a 235.5 I6 rated at 145 horsepower. The fuelies were gone, leaving the 348-ci V8 rated at 335 as the most powerful engine. Other engines included a 283-ci V8 (170 bhp), a 283-ci V8 (185 bhp), a 283-ci V8 (230 bhp), and two other 348-ci V8s rated at 250 and 320 horsepower.

I have the 2 door model with power brakes and steering. Compared to todays cars there is a marked difference but if compared to models of its era it would have to be considered as much smoother than most. My rating above reflects it compared to cars of its era.

It was my first love of a Car. It had Style, Comfort, Power in a 348ci Turboglide. It was expensive to Maintain because of Mileage over 100,000. In her day was the Top of Chevrolet vehicles. Nice roomy interior. The Impala was a very stylish vehicle & stood out from the crowd.
