Tesla was founded in 2003 in Palo Alto, California. In addition to founder Elon Musk, shareholders include BlackRock, Vanguard Group, and other investment funds. Its vehicles are built in its Fremont, CA production facility as well as its Gigafactory in Austin, TX. It also has a battery plant in Nevada, as well as a Shanghai, China facility that produces vehicles for Asian and European markets.
