Who Makes Bugatti Cars?

We have noted that Bugatti is a division of Volkswagen Group, but it is a bit more complicated than that. Bugatti is technically a brand of Bugatti Rimac, which is a joint-venture formed by Porsche AG, which is in-turn a subsidiary of Volkswagen Group. Rimac (a Croatian electric sports car company) owns a 55% majority stake and Porsche holds a 45% stake. This allows the two performance oriented brands to steer the Bugatti’s future. Bugatti is based in Molsheim, France, where the vehicles are also built. Future Bugatti models are expected to leverage Rimac’s engineering in Croatian facilities.

What Sort of Vehicles Does Bugatti Make?

The Bugatti’s chief product is the Chiron, a lavish 1,600-horsepower ultra-high-performance two-door sports car. Like its predecessor, the Veyron, it features a quad-turbocharged W16 engine that is a combination of two V8 engines. Bugatti also produces the Mistral, which is a roadster that uses the same W16 engine. Only 99 units will be produced and all are spoken for (sorry). The Mistral set a world record for an open-top automobile at 282 mph. Even rarer is the Bugatti Bolide, a track-only machine that makes 1,825 horsepower and features track-optimized aerodynamics. Only 40 units of this machine will be produced.
