Nissan offers certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicles that meet specific criteria. The company’s dealerships inspect and perform the certifications themselves before selling the vehicles.

CPO Nissans must meet several criteria before being sold. In order to be certified, the Nissan must:

• Pass a 167-point inspection • Have a clean, non-branded title • Have fewer than 80,000 miles on the odometer • Be less than 6 years old • Have no open service campaigns or recalls • Have no major collisions and a clean CarFax vehicle history report

Warranty

Nissan offers a 7-year/100,000-mile warranty on all certified pre-owned vehicles that it sells. Drivetrain coverage includes the engine and transmission and requires a $100 deductible per visit. Coverage ensures that Nissan OEM or remanufactured parts will be used in any repairs that are required.

Nissan will not cover any modified components, common wear items like suspension components and tires, paint, routine maintenance, or any parts damaged in an accident. The company’s warranty brochure states that service must be completed at an authorized Nissan dealer in the United States, except with approval from Nissan. The warranty is transferable to a second owner but may only be transferred once.

Certified pre-owned vehicles that need repair outside of the warranty period may still be eligible for coverage under special “adjustment programs” that Nissan initiates. The company says that it will mail notices to all known registered owners of vehicles that are affected under the programs so that repairs can be covered.

Perks

Roadside Assistance
Nissan offers roadside assistance for the duration of the 7-year/100,000-mile warranty. Services can include:

• Battery boost • Flat-tire change (using your spare) • Fuel delivery of up to $5 • Lockout assistance • Towing assistance

Roadside and towing assistance are limited to $100 of coverage per incident, and Nissan says owners may be responsible for charges beyond that amount.

Car Rental and Travel Assistance
If your CPO Nissan is in the shop to repair a component covered under warranty, the company will provide a rental vehicle allowance of up to $35 per day for a total of 5 days (up to $175).

Nissan also provides trip interruption reimbursement. If your vehicle breaks down more than 100 miles from home, the company can provide up to $500 in meal, lodging, and alternative transportation reimbursement.

Special Financing
Nissan offers special rates and terms for certified pre-owned vehicle buyers. In many cases, the CPO financing rates are comparable or better than those offered for new vehicles.
