Hyundai | Certified Pre-Owned Overview

Considering a certified pre-owned Hyundai? Shop great deals on CarGurus.

Hyundai offers one of the longest and most complete certified pre-owned vehicle warranties in the business, but to be considered for the CPO program a vehicle must:

• Be from within the last 5 model years • Have fewer than 60,000 miles • Pass a 173-point inspection • Have all scheduled and required maintenance performed • Pass a 29-point road test as part of the overall inspection

Warranties

Powertrain Warranty
Hyundai offers a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain on all of its new vehicles, which carries over to its CPO vehicles. This warranty covers issues that arise relating to:

• Engine components such as timing chains, manifolds, and more • Transmission/transaxle and drivetrain components such as the CV joints, seals and gaskets, torque converters, and more

Each service incident that is covered under the limited powertrain warranty requires a $50 deductible from the customer. If a component already repaired under the program fails again, Hyundai will waive the deductible. Coverage does not extend to parts that have been improperly installed or modified, or to damage due to recklessness from the driver. Hyundai also says that normal wear and tear items are not covered, which can include tires, brakes, wiper blades, and filters. Routine maintenance visits for things like oil changes are also not covered.

Comprehensive Warranty
The remainder of the Hyundai’s factory 5-year/60,000-mile comprehensive warranty is applied to a CPO vehicle at purchase. It covers nearly everything, but some components have a shorter coverage timeline:

• Radio and audio systems for up to 3 years or 36,000 miles from the original new purchase • Paint for up to 3 years or 36,000 miles from the original new purchase • Air conditioning refrigerant for up to 1 year from original new purchase date • Common wear items like brakes and fluids for up to one year or 12,000 miles from original new purchase date

Perks

Roadside Assistance and Loaner Vehicles
Hyundai offers roadside assistance for 10 years after the vehicle’s original sale date with no mileage limits. This means that coverage may extend beyond the end of the vehicle’s powertrain warranty. Assistance services can include:

• Battery charges and jump-starts • Flat-tire changes • Lock out services • Gas delivery

Coverage is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling Hyundai’s service line. The service also includes transportation to the nearest Hyundai dealership or service center if the vehicle is inoperable. Roadside assistance does not include coverage for issues that are caused by collision, vandalism, or weather.

Car Rental and Travel Assistance
If you experience a breakdown that requires overnight service, Hyundai may reimburse you for rental car expenses. You may be eligible to receive $35 per day for up to 10 days in the event of a mechanical breakdown. If your Hyundai breaks down more than 150 miles away from home, the company may provide reimbursement of travel and lodging expenses related to the services required.

Subscriptions
Every Hyundai CPO vehicle comes with a 3-month trial of SiriusXM satellite radio. The trial includes the All Access package, which has 175 channels with sports, news, and talk shows.

Extended Coverage
Hyundai CPO buyers may be able to extend their warranty coverage with various protection packages that the company offers:

• Pre-paid maintenance • Term protection • Guaranteed asset protection (GAP) coverage
