Ford’s certified pre-owned (CPO) program, named Ford Blue Advantage, is divided into two parts: Blue Certified and Gold Certified.
Blue Certified requires that Ford and select non-Ford vehicles:
• Have less than 120,000 miles
• Be less than 10 model years old
• Be able to pass a 139-point inspection
Ford Blue Certified vehicles come with complimentary 24/7 roadside assistance for the length of their comprehensive limited warranty. However, Ford Blue Certified vehicles may be offered for sale with unrepaired manufacturer safety recalls, so shoppers should check for open recalls at www.safecar.gov.
Gold Certified is for Ford models only, and it requires that vehicles:
• Have less than 80,000 miles
• Be less than six model years old
• Be able to pass a 172-point inspection
Gold Certified vehicles also come with complimentary 24/7 roadside assistance for the length of their comprehensive limited warranty. As with Blue Certified, Ford Gold Certified vehicles may be offered for sale with unrepaired manufacturer safety recalls.
Both Blue and Gold Certified vehicles come with a free CarFax vehicle history report, a full tank of fuel, fresh oil and filter, and new wiper blades.
Warranties
Ford’s Blue and Gold Certified comprehensive limited warranties carry a $100 deductible for services required, so it’s worth noting that an additional cost will be incurred for maintenance visits.
Comprehensive Limited Warranties
Ford Blue Certified vehicles come with a 90-day/4,000-mile (whichever comes first) comprehensive limited warranty. The warranty covers engine components, the transmission, steering components, brakes, suspension, the electrical system, the HVAC system, and more. The comprehensive warranty also covers safety equipment, stereo systems, and electrical components that are not covered under the available powertrain warranty.
Gold Certified vehicles are bestowed a 12-month/12,000-mile comprehensive limited warranty that covers everything covered under the Blue Certified warranty.
Powertrain Warranty
On top of the comprehensive warranty, the Ford Gold Certified program includes a 7-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty that covers the engine, transmission, and more. If you choose to sell a Ford CPO vehicle before that coverage period is up, the warranty is fully transferable to future owners at no cost.
The powertrain limited warranty covers components such as:
• Driveshaft
• All internally lubricated engine parts
• The engine block and cylinder heads
• Drive systems, including the 4WD system (if equipped)
Owners of Ford CPO vehicles can get service at any United States Ford dealership.
Perks
Both Ford Blue and Gold Certified programs offer three months of free SiriusXM satellite radio. Additionally, customers who purchase a Ford Gold Certified vehicle receive 22,000 FordPass rewards points, and shoppers who purchase a Blue Certified vehicle receive 11,000 FordPass rewards points. These points can be redeemed for discounts on maintenance, accessories, and other Ford purchases.
Roadside Assistance
All Ford CPO vehicles come with 24-hour roadside assistance that includes jump starts for dead batteries, flat-tire changes, and lockout services. The benefit is provided for 7 years/100,000 miles (whichever comes first) with Gold Certified vehicles and 90 days/4,000 miles (whichever comes first) with Blue Certified vehicles. If your breakdown causes you to be stranded more than 100 miles from home, the Ford roadside assistance program includes up to $1,000 for up to 5 days of lodging, meals, and a rental vehicle. It also offers up to $75 for an emergency taxi, shuttle, or other transportation is available, and up to $35 per day for a rental vehicle may be provided for up to 10 days if your vehicle requires overnight mechanical repairs.
