What’s New for the 2026 Toyota Corolla Hatchback
The big Corolla story for 2026 is the introduction of the FX Edition, which will be limited to 1,600 units for the United States. Available in three colors, the FX Edition features a unique interior with black sport seats, suede inserts, and orange stitching. It rides on exclusive 18-inch white alloy wheels and has a retro-inspired rear badge.
Design
Toyota offers the beefy GR Corolla hatchback, with boxy fender flares and a rally-inspired design, but the standard model features smooth lines and a much friendlier look overall. The car features a large grille and sharp LED daytime running lights, and some configurations add a rear hatch spoiler. Toyota offers a range of wheel options, depending on the trim, with the sporty XSE featuring black wheels and lower trims offering more traditional alloys.
Powertrain
While it looks aggressive, the Corolla Hybrid’s powertrain doesn’t live up to the hype. It’s a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 169 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. Power reaches the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission, which offers paddle shifters for a more engaging driving feel.

Interior
Cloth upholstery comes standard, but synthetic leather and suede are available in higher trims. Heated front seats are available, along with dual-zone automatic climate controls. Rear legroom and headroom aren’t the most generous in the Corolla Hatchback, but the car offers a decent amount of cargo space, with 17.8 cubic feet behind the back seats. The rear bench also folds flat, opening the space further, though taller items are limited by the car’s low roofline.
Technology
An eight-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto comes standard. Other features include Bluetooth, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, HD radio, SiriusXM radio, and more. Toyota also offers a range of connected services, including remote start, stolen vehicle location, SOS services, roadside assistance, and more. The recently updated infotainment system is much easier to use than earlier versions, making it less distracting while driving.
Safety
The 2026 Corolla doesn’t have comprehensive crash-test scores yet, but it’s generously equipped with tech. The list includes lane-departure alert with steering assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane-tracing assist, road-sign recognition, automatic high beams, and a proactive driving assistance system. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available.

Pricing and Release Date
As of the time of this writing, Toyota hasn’t priced the 2026 Corolla Hatchback, but expect a slight bump over 2025’s pricing. It started at $23,780 and ranged to $27,080, and Toyota does not offer a ton of added-cost options and packages, making it easier to get the desired features without spending more.
