The 2026 Porsche Cayenne Electric is a fully electric take on Porsche’s popular midsize crossover SUV. Porsche’s largest vehicle expands the brand’s electric family from the smaller Macan Electric crossover and the Taycan sedan with three performance options and some of the quickest DC fast-charging in the industry. It’s a bit larger than other Cayenne models, but slipping inside to the sphere of screens marks a major leap from other Porsche models.

What’s New for the 2026 Porsche Cayenne Electric
The 2026 Porsche Cayenne Electric is an all-new model with a familiar nameplate. When it goes on sale late in 2025 or early in 2026, it will be sold alongside gas and plug-in hybrid versions of the Cayenne. Porsche will offer it in base, S, and performance-topping Turbo models, but unlike the other iterations of the Cayenne, the Cayenne Electric won’t initially be offered in the GTS line.
Design
Porsche has been coy about releasing exterior images of the new Cayenne Electric, but a European drive of camouflaged prototypes late in summer 2025 revealed a shape and style familiar from other Cayennes. Sharing a flexible electric platform with the smaller Macan Electric, the Cayenne Electric measures out slightly longer and certainly heavier than the gas Cayenne. The prototypes showed slender taillights in stacked triple-dash shapes like Morse code that then wrap around the sides. The headlights take on a more angular, swept-back version of Porsche’s iconic 911 globes. The EV has similar body side indents as other Cayenne models and round wheel arches that house wheel sizes ranging from 20 to 22 inches.
Powertrain
Info on powertrain specs are spare at the moment, though we know all three grades will come with a 108-kwh battery pack feeding a dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. It’s anticipated that the base model will make about 500 horsepower, and the S splits the difference between the base and top Turbo grade that generates about 1,000 hp and a zero-60-mph time estimated to be less than three seconds. That’s more potent than the Turbo GT and its excellent twin-turbo V8, which Porsche tries to channel with an artificial V8 engine note in the Cayenne Electric.
Unlike the Macan Electric and more like the Cayenne, Porsche cultivates a more rugged vibe with the Cayenne Electric. An off-road package is on offer, and the towing capacity is rated at 7,700 pounds. For everyday use, Porsche employs standard air springs and adaptive damping, but a sophisticated active damping system used on the Taycan and Panamera promises to enhance both ride comfort, cornering agility, and even off-road articulation.

Interior
Aside from the battery under the floor and the motors on the axles, the biggest difference between the Cayenne Electric versus other Cayenne iterations is in the cockpit. It’s a pixelated light show, starting with a 14.25-inch digital instrument cluster that tries to channel some of Porsche’s analog charm with its three circular displays, then extends to a curved touchscreen, available passenger touchscreen, and all the mood lighting. Dual grab handles bridge the console to the center stack, and a Mood Modes function choreographs the ambient lighting, climate, and seat position. The Cayenne Electric doesn’t just have heated front seats, but heated touch surfaces from the steering wheel to the armrests to the door panels. Customization comes to the Cayenne electric with 13 interior color combos and a variety of interior and accent packages. The rear seats come standard with power adjustments as well.
Technology
The Cayenne EV's in-car tech is an evolutionary leap over other electric Porsches. The raised lip of the deep dash jogs down from the cluster to a 45-degree curved OLED touchscreen that bows out toward the fingertips in what must be the centerpiece of the tech showcase. We’ll confirm that once we play with it, however. A lower portion of the touchscreen houses quick menus to change, say, the four dimmable settings on the available sliding panoramic sunroof. The screen is underscored by a climate bar with toggles for temperature. An optional 14.9-inch touchscreen greets the front passenger for all the streams. A digital key lets you leave the fob at home and just pocket the smartphone or smartwatch.
In terms of charging, the Cayenne Electric relies on an 800-volt architecture, similar to other Porsche EVs. The battery chemistry is somewhat different, however, and it is rumored that it will enable a 10-80% state of charge in just 16 minutes at a DC-fast charger able to pump out 400 kw. It comes with a NACS port standard.
Safety
Porsche hasn’t disclosed any standard or available driver-assist systems, but based on the feature set on the Macan Electric, it’s reasonable to expect adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist as standard.

Pricing and Release Date
The 2026 Porsche Cayenne Electric goes on sale in late 2025 or early 2026. The Macan Electric costs about 20% more than the gas Macan, though extrapolation to the Cayenne is fuzzy math at best. With the gas Cayenne starting just below $90,000, it’s safe to assume the Cayenne Electric will start above $100,000 and rise from there.
