The Jeep Wrangler is a boxy SUV that can be converted to a doorless convertible. It's instantly recognizable, uniquely capable, and unlike anything else on the road. Its closest competitors are the Ford Bronco and Toyota's 4Runner and current-generation Land Cruiser models.

What’s New for the 2026 Jeep Wrangler
A new special edition, the Moab 392, joins the Wrangler lineup for 2026, and it’s the first of a series of special editions to be introduced throughout the model year. The Wrangler Moab 392 features a 470-horsepower V8 engine and 17-inch beadlock-capable (heavy-duty off-road wheels) wheels fitted with 35-inch all-terrain tires. The 2026 Wrangler also gets updated door hinges, newly available steel bumpers, a Warn winch on the two-door Willys version, and a revised color palette.
Design
Like all previous versions, the 2026 Jeep Wrangler is visually unmistakable. It's a box on wheels, rough and tumble, with the choice of two or four doors, a soft top or a more substantial hard top, and a newly expanded range of exterior colors unmatched by most other mainstream automakers. This year, Jeep has updated the hinge system to make it easier to pop off the doors for open-air driving.
Powertrain
The Wrangler comes standard with a 3.6-liter V6 boasting 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, mated to a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission. Also available is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine rated for 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. For those who want the fastest and the most powerful Wrangler on the block, there’s a 6.4-liter V8 with 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. These optional engines come with the eight-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive (4WD) is standard across the lineup, but there are several different part and full-time systems that vary by trim. Efficiency has never been the Jeep Wrangler's strongest suit, but the turbo-four manages an EPA-estimated 21 mpg combined.

Interior
The Wrangler is offered as a four-passenger two-door or as a five-passenger four-door SUV. In both cases, second-row passengers are likely to feel, well, cozy. Famously, the Wrangler features removable doors and either a removable soft or hard top. For that reason, it has a simple interior, regardless of the trim level, with surfaces that can stand up to the elements and are easy to clean at the end of the adventure. There’s 31.7 cubic feet of cargo space, which roughly doubles with the rear seats folded down.
Technology
Infotainment and tech features are simple, with very few available upgrades. The 2026 Wrangler includes a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen display with the Uconnect 5 infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an eight-speaker audio system. Options include a 7-inch digital information cluster and a nine-speaker Alpine audio system.
Safety
The Jeep Wrangler comes with side-curtain airbags, which, believe it or not, is noteworthy since they weren't added until 2024. You’ll also get a rearview camera, and that’s about it for standard safety tech. Increasingly common features such as a blind-spot monitor, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and rear cross-traffic alert cost extra. The 2026 Wrangler hadn't been evaluated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) or National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) at the time of writing.
