The Jeep Grand Cherokee L was introduced in 2021 and marked the first-ever three-row option within the Grand Cherokee lineup. It's longer than its two-row sibling and offers a generous, adult-sized third row. Primary competitors include the Toyota Grand Highlander, the Honda Pilot, the Ford Explorer, the Chevrolet Traverse, the Hyundai Palisade, and the Kia Telluride. The 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee L has three trims: Laredo, Limited, and Summit.

What’s New for the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee L
The Jeep Grand Cherokee L has undergone a mid-cycle refresh for 2026. The exterior gets some design tweaks, including an updated seven-slot grille, a new headlight design, a modified rear and lower fascia, and all-new exterior trim finishes. Inside, there's a new 12.3-inch infotainment screen and haptic HVAC controls on the center stack. The biggest change for 2026, however, is the addition of the new 2.0-liter Hurricane 4 Turbo powertrain.
Design
The exterior of the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is a modern interpretation of the classic Jeep design language with an upright stance and a seven-slot grille. The base Laredo model has standard 18-inch wheels, but 20- and 21-inch wheels are available as you ascend the trim levels. Depending on grade and trim, there are painted cast aluminum, gloss black, diamond-cut and machined cast wheel designs. We didn’t have specific design and appearance package details at the time of writing.
Powertrain
The base powertrain for the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee L remains the 293-horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine. New for this model year, the L gets a new 2.0-liter Hurricane turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 324 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, available with two-wheel drive (2WD) or four-wheel drive (4WD), and have an equal maximum towing capacity of 6,200 pounds. EPA-estimated fuel economy wasn’t available for the new engine at the time of writing, but expect 18 to 19 mpg in the city and 25 to 26 mpg on the highway from the V6, depending on the drivetrain.

Interior
The Grand Cherokee L's interior gets a more modern feel for 2026 with larger screens, fewer buttons, and smaller dials. The L is a three-row, midsize SUV that can accommodate six or seven occupants depending on the second-row configuration. Captain’s chairs are standard, but a bench seat is optional. It comes with standard cloth seating surfaces, but leatherette and leather seats are available with higher trim levels. The Grand Cherokee L offers less cargo space than most of its competitors with 17.2 cubic feet behind the third row and a maximum cargo capacity of 84.6 cubic feet with all rows folded flat. There's no sunroof as standard, both single-pane and dual-pane sunroofs are available with higher trim levels.
Technology
As part of the refresh for 2026, the Jeep Grand Cherokee L gets a larger 12.3-inch infotainment screen—up from 8.4 inches or 10.1 inches in 2025. Other standard tech features include a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster, USB-C and USB-A charge ports, SiriusXM satellite radio, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Alexa connectivity, and dual-zone automatic climate controls. Available technology includes a front passenger interactive display, a rear-seat entertainment system, a head-up display, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, and quad-zone climate controls
