What’s New for the 2026 GMC Hummer EV Pickup

For 2026, the refreshed GMC Hummer EV Pickup features a new evolution of its four-wheel-steering feature, dubbed King Crab. Ostensibly designed for off-road use, this system allows the front and rear wheels to spin at different speeds, improving maneuverability. The coolest thing about King Crab, though, is that it’s an over-the-air software update rather than a hardware change, so will be available to all Hummer EV owners from the 2022 model year onward. GMC is also introducing a limited-production Carbon Fiber Edition, available only with the 3X trim and capable of sprinting to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds.

Design

Even the most casual observer will notice the Hummer EV Pickup and its SUV sibling are more alike than different, and they simply dwarf the last-generation Hummer H3 from the early 2000s. The Hummer EV Pickup is so wide that it almost looks short, even if it’s not. The bold grille spells out the Hummer name, the pickup bed flares out beyond the cab, and every detail is about as masculine as it could possibly be. For 2026, shoppers get two new exterior colors: Coastal Dune and Auburn Matte. The new Carbon Fiber Edition wears a trim-exclusive Magnus Gray Matte paint, distinct 22-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, black emblems, and carbon fiber trim.

Powertrain

This GMC Hummer's two trim levels represent its powertrain options. The 2X model features a pair of electric motors and a battery pack that combine for 570 horsepower and up to 7,400 pound-feet of torque. The 3X model adds another motor, increasing output up to 830 hp and 11,500 lb-ft of torque. Both feature a single-speed automatic transmission and super-capable all-wheel drive (AWD) with the King Crab four-wheel-steering system. The 2X model has a range of 313 miles on a full charge, while the 3X model comes in at 312 miles. However, the 3X can be upgraded with a 24-module battery pack that increases range to 381 miles. A DC fast charger can add 100 miles of range in 14 minutes for the 2X and 11 minutes on the 3X.

Interior

The Hummer EV Pickup has seating for five on standard synthetic leather upholstery. The spacious cabin offers plenty of room in both rows, and the design is rugged but reasonably upscale, with color palette names such as Granite Drift and Stealth Eclipse (both new for 2026). Regardless of trim, buyers get heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel. For storage, the Hummer EV Pickup’s bed can stow 36.7 cubic feet of cargo, and there’s an 11.3-cubic-foot frunk (front trunk).

Technology

The Hummer EV Pickup features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 13.4-inch touchscreen infotainment display with split-screen capability, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, and a 14-speaker Bose stereo. The Hummer EV Pickup also offers bidirectional charging, enabling the truck to transfer power to another electric vehicle or a home.

Safety

Standard safety features include forward and reverse automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection. The 2026 Hummer EV Pickup is available with features including the latest version of General Motors’ Super Cruise hands-free driver-assistance system. This truck has not been evaluated for crashworthiness by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), which is typical for very expensive luxury and electric vehicles that sell in low volumes.
