What’s New for the 2026 Genesis GV80
Last year, Genesis expanded the GV80 lineup by adding the new Coupe version. For 2026, a new Prestige Black trim level joins the lineup, all-wheel-drive (AWD) models gain three modes (Mud, Sand, Snow), and the standard SUV can be configured with rear-wheel drive (RWD) and the base engine.
Design
The GV80 strikes an elegant pose, starting with a shield-shaped grille with a cross-hatched diamond pattern, stacked horizontal headlights, and a long hood. Fender gills echo the headlight design, as do the taillights. Standard chrome trim creates a stately look, especially around the windows, but you can opt for a sportier appearance with the Prestige Black's dark accents. A range of attractive 19- to 22-inch wheels adds to its presence. At the rear, the roofline angles down slightly, and that’s particularly pronounced on the GV80 Coupe.
Powertrain
With the exception of the base RWD SUV, all 2026 Genesis GV80s are AWD. The SUV is powered by either a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, or a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 that makes 375 hp and 391 lb-ft of torque. The GV80 Coupe uses the latter in its 375-hp configuration or in 3.5 E-S/C spec with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that increases output to 409 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque. Regardless of which engine you select, you'll get an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Fuel economy ratings for the base RWD SUV are 20 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined. Those figures drop to 19/24/21 with AWD, or 16/22/19 mpg with AWD and the twin-turbo V6. The GV80 Coupe is rated at 16/22/19 mpg with the 375-hp V6 or 17/22/19 mpg with the mild-hybrid system.
All GV80s can tow up to 6,000 pounds.
Interior
The GV80 SUV body style offers two or three rows that accommodate up to seven passengers, whereas the Coupe's seating capacity is limited to five. Upholstery ranges from synthetic leather to premium Nappa leather depending on configuration, but power-adjustable, heated front seats are standard across the board. Upper trims add front ventilation and offer Genesis’ Ergo Motion driver’s seat that uses air bladders to perform stretching and massaging motions to prevent driver fatigue.
The rear seats are heated in the 2.5T Advanced AWD and above, while Prestige versions get ventilated rear seats. With the exception of the base 2.5T model, all GV80s roll off of the assembly line with a heated steering wheel and a panoramic sunroof.
In its seven-passenger configuration, the GV80 SUV offers 11.6 cubic feet of cargo room behind the third row, 36.5 cubic feet behind the second row, and 71.7 cubic feet behind the front row. With the five-passenger SUV you get 38.7 cubic feet of space behind the second row. In the Coupe, cargo numbers fall to a still-useful range of 29.3 to 61.1 cubic feet.
Technology
The GV80 gets a standard 27-inch curved display that includes the digital instrument cluster and an infotainment touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as are wireless smartphone charging and a nine-speaker sound system. Pricier trim levels feature an 18-speaker, 1,400-watt Bang & Olufsen system.
A standard Mood Curator system manages the seats' temperature and massage settings, as well as ambient lighting, audio and climate controls, and a fragrance-dispersion system to help invigorate or relax drivers.
Safety
Among the 2026 GV80's many standard safety features are forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high-beam headlights, and adaptive cruise control. Genesis also equips all GV80s with lane-keep assist, safe-exit warning, a driver-attention monitor, and a semi-autonomous highway driving system called Highway Driving Assist 2. Buyers can opt for additional safety technology, such as automatic parking, a surround-view camera system, side parking sensors, and more.
Pricing and Release Date
Genesis offers the GV80 SUV in 2.5T RWD, 2.5T AWD, 2.5T Select AWD, 2.5T Advanced AWD, 2.5T Prestige AWD, 3.5T Advanced AWD, 3.5T Prestige AWD, and 3.5T Prestige Black AWD trim levels. The GV80 Coupe comes in 3.5T, 3.5T E-S/C, and 3.5T E-S/C Prestige Black trims.
At the time of writing, the 2.5T RWD started at $59,195, including a $1,495 destination fee, and AWD added $2,150. Prices climb steadily as the list of standard equipment grows, with the top-of-the-line Prestige Black AWD GV80 SUV coming in at $84,745. GV80 Coupes will set you back $83,345 to $90,895 depending on trim level and without additional options.
