The 2026 Chevrolet Trailblazer is an attractive entry into the small SUV segment, which is bursting with solid choices. It may share its name with a rugged SUV that Chevy sold a couple of decades ago, but today’s Trailblazer is a fully modern and efficient crossover that sits between the smaller Trax and the one-size-up Equinox on the showroom floor.

What’s New for the 2026 Chevrolet Trailblazer
The Chevy Trailblazer, introduced in the United States in 2021 and refreshed for the 2024 model year, rolls into 2026 with two new paint colors and a standard tire inflator kit (a traditional spare tire is optional). White Sands is a light sandy gray hue that’s offered in Trailblazer RS and Activ models, while Apex Red is a bright shade available on LS, LT, and RS trim levels. Crimson Metallic and Nitro Yellow Metallic have been discontinued.
Design
With its large blacked-out grille and angular lights, the 2026 Trailblazer is a striking little SUV. In LS and LT trim, a chrome bar with the Chevy bowtie emblem dominates the front fascia, while the RS model's machined grille and gloss-black wheels give it a sportier look. The Activ adds a functional skid plate for off-road capability. A deep crease runs along the bodysides for extra visual interest, and some versions can be optioned with contrasting roof colors. A Midnight Edition for LT models adds blacked-out badges and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Powertrain
Trailblazer buyers have multiple powertrain options to consider, all featuring turbocharged three-cylinder engines. A 1.2-liter unit is standard, producing 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque that's delivered to the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT). A larger 1.3-liter engine is optional with 155 hp and 174 lb-ft, and can be configured with the CVT and front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) paired with a nine-speed automatic gearbox. The more powerful engine is standard on RS and Activ Trailblazer models. Properly equipped with its available Trailering Package, the 2026 Chevy Trailblazer can tow up to 1,000 pounds.
The 2026 Chevy Trailblazer with the base engine is estimated to return 30 mpg in the city, 31 mpg on the highway, and 30 mpg combined. Interestingly, the larger engine performs slightly better overall, with 29 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 31 mpg combined. With AWD, those figures drop to 27/29/27 mpg, respectively.

Interior
Trailblazer LS and LT models get black cloth upholstery (with optional heated seats in the LT) while RS and Activ models get upgraded interiors that feature synthetic Evotrex trim and contrast stitching. Red accents and a flat-bottom steering wheel add a sporty element to the RS model, while yellow threads in the Activ offer a more outdoorsy appearance. An optional panoramic sunroof is a nice touch considering the Trailblazer’s reasonable pricing.
Technology
The Trailblazer’s horizontally split dashboard features a reasonably sized 11-inch touchscreen mounted high in the center. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both standard, and wireless phone charging is available. A separate driver-configurable eight-inch digital screen serves as the Trailblazer’s gauge cluster and displays information such as vehicle speed, fuel range, average fuel economy, and tire pressure.
Safety
The Chevy Safety Assist package is standard across the Trailblazer range and includes forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assist with lane-departure warning, a following-distance indicator, and automatic high-beam headlights. Adaptive cruise control, lane-change assist with side blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear-park assist are optional or included in packages across all Trailblazer models.
The Trailblazer received mostly good ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), but only an Acceptable rating for the child seat attachment (LATCH) hardware. The Trailblazer received the top five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Breaking down the NHTSA tests, the Trailblazer was awarded five stars in the frontal and side crash tests, and four stars in the rollover test.

Pricing and Release Date
At the time of writing, the 2026 Chevrolet Trailblazer is available at Chevy dealers nationwide with a starting MSRP of $25,095 (including a $1,795 destination charge). Stepping up to the larger 1.3-liter engine adds less than $400 to the sticker price. A 2026 Trailblazer LT with AWD starts at $27,095. The sporty RS and outdoorsy Activ models both carry MSRPs of $30,090 with FWD or $31,690 with AWD.
