What’s New for the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
The Chevrolet Silverado was last updated in 2022, and it carries over still mostly unchanged for the 2026 model year. This year, Chevy updates the lineup with a new RST Select Special Edition with 20-inch all-terrain tires. There are also two new colors to round out the exterior palette, Polar White Tricoat and White Sands.
Design
The Silverado has modern and likable styling, but it’s nothing too extreme or unexpected for a full-size pickup truck. It wears slender headlights tucked into a big, slat-heavy grille, and the profile looks traditional regardless of cab style and bed size pairings. The base Silverado WT wears 17-inch steel wheels, and glossier and more glam wheel designs are available in sizes up to 22 inches.
Powertrain
The 2026 Silverado 1500 is available with four engines. The base is a turbo-four rated for 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. A 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel comes rated for 305 hp and 495 lb-ft, and there’s a choice of 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V8s, rated for 355 hp and 383 lb-ft or 420 hp and 460 lb-ft, respectively. The latter three engines get a 10-speed automatic transmission. Chevy offers rear- and four-wheel-drive (RWD and 4WD) setups, and the ZR2 model features off-road suspension and tire upgrades.

Interior
Whether you want a basic pickup truck or a cabin fitted with near-luxury amenities, you’ll find a 2026 Chevy Silverado that suits your needs. It’s available with a choice of cab styles, with seats for up to six, and several different bed lengths. The cabin design is modern and fitted with materials that are generally of good quality, though the entry- and lower-level models do have some cheaper finishes. Chevrolet does a good job of balancing the infotainment displays with physical controls for functions like air conditioning, 4WD settings, and some safety features. Vinyl upholstery and manually adjustable seats come standard, and upgrades include power-adjustable seats, different grades of leather, heated front and rear seats, ventilated front seats, and a premium Bose audio system.
Technology
The 2026 Silverado 1500 comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, voice recognition, and two USB ports. That’s for the base WT, and all the higher trims build on that. Elsewhere in the lineup, you can get a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, a 13.4-inch touchscreen display, wireless charging, household-style power outlets, and up to four more USB ports.
Safety
The Silverado 1500 includes a rearview camera, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure alert, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and GM’s Teen Driver system, with settings to limit speed and audio volume. Options include a surround-view camera system, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors. The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado has not yet been tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The 2025 model received mixed ratings in crash evaluations. It earned a top five-star overall rating from the NHTSA with a mix of four- and five-star scores in individual tests. However, in IIHS testing, the 2025 Silverado earned the top Good score in only one test, with a mix of lower ratings in other tests.
