What’s New for the 2026 BMW iX3
The iX3 is the first vehicle to use BMW’s Neue Klasse design language and features advanced 800-volt electric architecture. It offers blazing fast charging speeds, powerful processors, and striking styling changes from the gas-powered model.
Design
BMW’s Neue Klasse design philosophy sidesteps the large grilles and funky proportions and instead blends some of the automaker’s classic design elements with modern lines. The iX3 features a small kidney grille with wing-shaped vents on either side, but other than the front-end look, the rest of the shape is pretty familiar. The SUV also features new lighting designs, a rear spoiler, and new LED daytime running lights (DRLs).
Powertrain
The iX3 comes with two electric motors, making a combined 463 horsepower and 476 pound-feet of torque, giving it a 4.7-second zero-60-mph time. BMW is targeting 400 miles of range total. The crossover offers bi-directional charging, which lets it charge other electric vehicles (EVs) or power external equipment, and BMW quotes a 21-minute charge time from 10 to 80 percent on a DC fast charger. The iX3 is rated to charge at up to 400 kilowatts, but it’s worth noting that most chargers in the United States top out at 350 kW.

Interior
BMW designed the iX3’s interior as an electric-first concept, with new seats, multiple color options, and standard synthetic leather upholstery. The new dash design features a large storage area under the center console, and cargo space measures 30.4 cubic feet with the rear seats upright. The space expands to 65 cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat, and the small front trunk (or frunk) offers an additional two cubic feet of lockable storage.
Technology
The iX3 has a 17.9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and BMW’s latest iDrive infotainment software. The system offers gesture, touch, and voice inputs, and the new interface is more configurable, giving users the ability to configure custom widgets to access the most-used features faster. Several functions work with the iX3’s steering wheel controls, which provide haptic feedback and backlighting.
Safety
The 2026 BMW iX3 is too new to have received crash-test results yet, but its electronic “superbrain” processors provide a range of safety features. It offers adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and more. The driver-assistance systems can also help guide the driver to safer habits with reminders and warnings.

Pricing and Release Date
As of the time of this writing, the BMW iX3 is set to arrive in the middle of 2026 with a starting price of around $60,000. BMW hasn’t detailed options and packages for the vehicle yet, but expect a range of added-cost upgrades that push that price much higher.
