What’s New for the 2025 Mazda CX-5
For the 2025 model year, the S trim of the CX-5 returns to the lineup as the entry-level option. Some features, including all-wheel drive (AWD) have become standard in various trims, and the front-seat area now has USB-C ports in place of USB ports.
Design
The CX-5 features sleek, sculpted lines and a refined grille. It also features assertive LED headlights that give the SUV a striking presence on the road. Trims for the 2025 CX-5 are S, Select, Preferred, Carbon, Premium Plus, and Turbo Signature. The S trim comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, and stepping up to Carbon Edition and higher trims adds 19-inch alloy wheels.
Powertrain
The 2025 Mazda CX-5 offers two engine options. The standard engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder producing 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque. For those seeking more power, Mazda offers a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine that delivers 227 horsepower on regular fuel and up to 256 horsepower when using premium fuel, along with 310 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, and Mazda’s i-Activ AWD is now standard across all trims.
The most efficient powertrain is the base 2.5-liter. It returns 26 mpg city, 31 highway, and 28 combined. The turbocharged engine returns fuel economy of 22 mpg city, 27 highway, and 24 combined.

Interior
Standard features on the S trim include cloth upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, push-button start, and remote keyless entry. The Select trim adds synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. Other trims include genuine leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats.
The CX-5 provides 30.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. With the rear seats folded, there’s 59.3 cubic feet of cargo space. A power liftgate is standard starting on the Preferred trim.
Technology
The 2025 CX-5 comes standard with a 10.25-inch digital display. It comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and operates as a touchscreen when either platform is running, but all other menus and systems require use of the rotary dial in the center console. The CX-5 is available with a fully digital instrument panel and a Bose 10-speaker premium audio system.
Safety
The CX-5 comes with a long list of standard driver-assistance features, including automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and stop-and-go adaptive cruise control. It also comes standard with lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Upgraded trims come with features such as reverse collision avoidance, 360-degree parking camera, front and rear parking sensors, traffic-sign recognition, and a head-up display.
