The Hyundai Sonata has been in the U.S. since the 1989 model year and was, until recently, pretty bland—but that changed with the latest model's acclaimed exterior design and forward-thinking tech. Though the midsize sedan segment is dwindling, it remains competitive, and the 2025 Sonata faces off against the Nissan Altima, the Toyota Camry, the Honda Accord, the Subaru Legacy, and the Kia K5. The Sonata costs less than everything except the Legacy and has four trim levels: SE, SEL, SEL Convenience, and N Line.
