GMC’s full-size Yukon offers a cavernous interior, great tech, and plenty of capability, making it an excellent all-around choice for many families. It’s one of the few SUVs offered with a diesel engine choice, and GMC offers off-road-oriented trims that can take people well off the beaten path and back without much hassle.

What’s New for the 2025 GMC Yukon
GMC significantly updated the Yukon for 2025, giving it a revised exterior appearance, a new interior design, updated tech, and a new AT4 Ultimate trim.
Design
The new Yukon has a redesigned grille, with unique designs for each trim level. Other updates include new liftgate badging, headlight animation sequences, and fresh taillights. The top Denali Ultimate trim adds 24-inch laser-etched wheels, while the AT4 Ultimate brings a front skid plate, 20-inch wheels, and more.
Powertrain
The three previously available powertrain options carry over for 2025. The standard gasoline 5.3-liter V8 makes 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, while an optional 6.2-liter V8 makes 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.
A 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel inline-six is also available, making 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque. All engines pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission and either rear-wheel drive (RWD) or four-wheel drive (4WD).
All three engines are more than capable, but the diesel is best for towing. Its torque and fuel economy are also big selling points, but it doesn’t feel as powerful or lively as the available gas engine.
Interior
Cloth upholstery comes standard, but top trims get luxurious leather. The Denali Ultimate adds heating, ventilation, and massage, and the cabin is packed with open-pore wood accents and chrome. The AT4 Ultimate gets black wood accents and full-grain leather upholstery.
As a full-size SUV, the Yukon offers great passenger space across the first two rows of seating, and the third row is accessible for adults. Cargo space is also generous, measuring 25.5 cubic feet behind the third row, 72.6 cubic feet with the third row folded down, and up to 122.9 cubic feet with the back two rows folded flat. The Yukon XL’s longer wheelbase affords up to 144.7 cubic feet of space.
Technology
The 2025 Yukon comes standard with a 12-inch digital gauge cluster and a 10.2-inch touchscreen. Other standard tech includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, six USB ports, and three-zone automatic climate control. GMC offers a rear-seat entertainment system, wireless charging, and two Bose stereo options.
Safety
The Yukon hasn’t been crash-tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) yet, but it gets a decent number of standard safety features. The list includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, automatic wipers, GM's Teen Driver Mode, and rear-seat alert. Available tech includes reverse-collision warning, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and more.
Pricing and Release Date
As of the time of this writing, GMC hasn’t released pricing for the 2025 Yukon. Expect a slight increase over the 2024 model’s base price, which started at $61,695.
