Heavy-duty trucks are the go-to vehicles for contractors, construction workers, and anyone needing to get big jobs done. General Motors offers a pair of trucks in the segment, including the Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD. The Silverado is slightly less luxurious than the Sierra, but it still borders on luxury vehicle levels of comfort and quality in higher trims.

What’s New for the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD
Chevrolet updated its HD truck line a few years ago, and the updates continue in 2025. The automaker introduced its popular Trail Boss package, which adds off-road flair with features from the LT and LTX trims. Adaptive cruise control is now standard for the High Country trim, and other configurations received more available features.
Design
Heavy-duty trucks are beefy and imposing by design, and the Silverado is no exception. Beyond being taller and longer than the full-size Silverado 1500, the HD variants feature ultra-boxy styling, with muscular wheel arches and nearly flat sides. Chevy also offers three cabin configurations, including single, double, and crew.
Powertrain
Two powertrain options are available for the 2025 GMC Sierra 3500HD. The base engine is a 6.6-liter gas V8 that makes 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. A 6.6-liter turbodiesel V8 is available, making 470 horsepower and a staggering 975 pound-feet of torque. Both engines pair with an Allison heavy-duty 10-speed automatic transmission and either rear- or four-wheel drive.

Interior
Chevy equips basic vinyl upholstery as standard, but cloth or leather options are available. Other available features include heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, a heated steering wheel, memory settings, and power seat adjustments. The Silverado can seat between three and six people, depending on the cab, with the regular cab offering the fewest and the crew cab offering the most.
Technology
Chevy equips a 7-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. Other features include two or six speakers, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and USB ports. Higher trims add a head-up display, a 13.4-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, SiriusXM radio, wireless charging, household power outlets, dual-zone automatic climate controls, and more. The Silverado 3500 is also available with a Kicker tailgate audio system, which takes advantage of the highly configurable Mutl-Flex tailgate system.
