Ford might sell more trucks than any other individual brand in the country, but it can’t outsell the combined might of Chevrolet and GMC under the General Motors banner. The two brands sell a ton of pickups each year, including the Chevy Silverado 1500, which competes with the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500 in the full-size truck world. It’s offered with a range of powertrain and configuration options, and it gained a decent number of upgrades for the new model year.

What’s New for the 2025 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Chevy gave the Silverado 1500 a few notable updates for the 2025 model year, including two new paint colors: Cypress Gray and Riptide Blue. Other updates include a new 20-inch wheel design, premium audio and parking assist for the ZR2 trim, a trailer brake controller system for the LT trim and above, and cruise control for the basic Work Truck (WT) trim.
Design
The Silverado 1500 has a boxy, muscular shape with an upright grille and clean lines. The front end features unique C-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and each trim gets unique exterior finishes, such as black badging for some variants.
Powertrain
Chevy offers three powertrain options in the 2025 Silverado. The base engine is a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder making 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. An optional 3.0-liter turbodiesel six-cylinder makes 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque. Two V8s sit at the top of the lineup, including a 5.3-liter mill with 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque and a 6.2-liter V8 with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. The base four-cylinder engine comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the others come paired with a 10-speed automatic.
The Silverado 1500 is not available in a dual-rear-wheel configuration like its heavy duty counterparts, but it is offered with four-wheel drive (4WD). The ZR2 and other trims bring off-road upgrades, including beefier suspension systems, upgraded body protection, and more.
Interior
The Silverado 1500 seats between three and six people, depending on the configuration. Vinyl upholstery comes standard with the basic Work Truck trim, but higher models add cloth or genuine leather upholstery. Heated and ventilated front seats and heated rear seats are available.
Technology
The base WT trim gets a 7-inch touchscreen and an analog gauge cluster with a 3.5-inch digital driver-information display screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and USB inputs. Higher trims get a 13.4-inch touchscreen and 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, wireless phone charging, SiriusXM radio, remote start, and more.
Safety
Chevy equips a generous list of standard safety equipment, including forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, GM's Teen Driver mode, and rear-seat alerts. Available tech includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, Super Cruise, a head-up display, a surround-view camera system, adaptive cruise control, and more.
Pricing and Release Date
As of the time of this writing, Chevrolet has not released pricing for the 2025 Silverado 1500. The 2024 model started at $26,800 and could extend well past $80,000 with a few options on the top trim. The 2025 Chevy Silverado 1500 is set to go on sale in the fall of 2024.
