What’s New for the 2025 Acura RDX
This year, Acura updates the RDX with a new front grille that lends a more aggressive look, a refreshed cabin, and some new infotainment features. These updates, which are largely focused on practicality and usability, help the 2025 Acura RDX stay fresh and competitive amongst newer and more luxurious rivals, even though the RDX tends to have some of the most affordable prices in the segment.
Design
The Acura RDX has pleasant styling that should appeal to most shoppers in the segment. For 2025, Acura updates the front end with a new frameless grille and updated grille mesh with a more aggressive pattern. LED headlights, taillights, and daytime running lamps (DRLs) are standard across the lineup, and all but the two lower trims also get LED foglights. The RDX comes standard with 19-inch alloy wheels on all trims except for the A-Spec Advance, which gets 20-inch wheels.
Powertrain
The 2025 Acura RDX has the same powertrain across the lineup. It makes 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque from its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Though some shoppers might bristle at the lack of available powertrain upgrades, this engine should suit most potential buyers looking for a bargain in this class, without having to make too many decisions. Acura supplies standard all-wheel drive (AWD) and a 10-speed automatic transmission. The EPA rates most versions of the 2025 RDX at 21 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined, though the larger wheels that come with the A-Spec Advance model drop it to 26 mpg highway.
Interior
The Acura RDX seats five across two rows. For 2025, Acura upgrades the cabin to improve functionality. There’s more storage throughout, including bigger cupholders to accommodate a wider range of cups and bottles. Acura also made it easer to access the wireless smartphone charging pad. Though the seats are spacious and comfortable, most others in the segment use more upscale materials and finishes. This is one of the RDX’s biggest drawbacks, but it’s also why the RDX is among the more affordable luxury SUVs out there. Standard features in the base trim include synthetic leather and heated front sport seats with power adjustments, while options like upgraded upholstery combinations, front ventilation, and heated rear seats are available. The RDX has great cargo capacity, offering 29.5 cubic feet behind the second row and a total of 58.9 cubic feet with the second row folded down.
Technology
The 2025 RDX features a new wide-screen mode for the infotainment system, which Acura says is designed to make the interface more user-friendly. The 10.2-inch display is controlled via a touchpad in the center console, which has a significant learning curve. We haven’t yet tested the wide-screen mode, so it remains to be seen if it delivers on its promise. However, standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto do help ease the strain. Other standard features include a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, voice recognition, and a nine-speaker audio system. Upgraded stereos, wireless charging, and multicolor interior ambient lighting are available.
Safety
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) awarded the 2025 Acura RDX a five-star overall rating. The 2025 model hasn’t yet been tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), but the 2024 model earned that organization's Top Safety Pick rating. The RDX includes standard adaptive cruise control, a rearview camera, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, road-departure mitigation, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic-sign recognition, and automatic high-beam headlights. Options include a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, and a head-up display (HUD).
