What’s New for the 2024 Volvo C40 Recharge
For the 2024 model year, Volvo introduces a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive (RWD) powertrain, joining the existing dual-motor, all-wheel-drive (AWD) version.
Design
The C40 Recharge is based on the XC40 subcompact SUV, but it has a unique, coupe-like profile. This makes for a bold appearance, but cuts into cargo space. Trims for the C40 are Core, Plus, and Ultimate. The Core and Plus trims come with 19-inch alloy wheels. The Ultimate features 20-inch alloy wheels.
Powertrain
Single-motor models deliver 248 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. An 82-kilowatt-hour battery pack offers a driving range of up to 297 miles on a single charge, per the EPA. Dual-motor AWD models are rated at 402 horsepower and 494 pound-feet of torque, with an EPA-rated 257 miles of range from a 78-kWh battery pack.
The single-motor version of the C40 Recharge achieves an EPA-rated 107 MPGe (miles per gallon of gasoline equivalent) combined, while the dual-motor version is rated at 99 MPGe combined.
Thanks to DC fast charging, the dual-motor model can charge from 10 percent to 80 percent charge in about 37 minutes, while the single-motor variant can achieve the same in roughly 28 minutes.
Interior
Standard features on the Core trim for 2024 include heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and combination cloth and synthetic suede upholstery. The C40 Recharge Core also comes with a panoramic moonroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, and remote keyless entry.
The Plus trim adds a power-adjustable front passenger seat and power-adjustable rear headrests. The range-topping Ultimate trim gains ambient cabin lighting, as well as heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel. Those features are also available on the Core and Plus as part of an optional Climate Package.
The C40 Recharge offers 17.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and 40 cubic feet with the rear seats folded, accessed via a standard hands-free power liftgate.
Technology
The C40 Recharge comes equipped with a digital instrument panel, satellite radio, four USB ports, and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Core and Plus trims come with an eight-speaker stereo. The Ultimate comes equipped with a 13-speaker Harman Kardon premium stereo system.
Safety
Standard driver-assistance features for the 2024 C40 Recharge include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, rear parking sensors, traffic-sign recognition, lane-departure warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Plus trim adds front and side parking sensors, as well as a 360-degree parking camera system. The Ultimate trim adds adaptive cruise control.
Pricing and Release Date
At the time of this writing, the 2024 Volvo C40 Recharge has a base MSRP of $54,895 for the Core trim. The Plus trim starts at $56,695, and the Ultimate starts at $60,095.
