Automakers have expanded their SUV lineups with new variants and body styles, to the point that there are a dizzying number of choices on the market. The Infiniti QX55 builds on the QX50 with a sleek, sloped roof and a sportier look, but it’s largely the same underneath and offers most of the same features. It loses some practicality over the QX50, but buyers interested in style likely won’t mind.

What’s New for the 2024 Infiniti QX55
Having only been on sale since the 2022 model year, the QX55 is still pretty new. Infiniti made leather and adaptive cruise control standard for the 2023 model year and adds even more standard features for 2024.
Design
The QX55 is a much curvier and sportier-looking SUV than its QX50 counterpart. Large wheels and aggressive body sculpting give it an imposing stance, and the dramatically sloped roof creates a fastback look that sets the QX55 apart from its more sedate rivals. Infiniti employed tasteful chrome trim, but the overall look is subdued.
Powertrain
Infiniti equips the 2024 QX55 with the same variable-compression 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine found in the QX50. The innovative engine design changes its compression ratio to match the driving situation. The ratio can raise or lower itself to produce more power or to conserve fuel, depending on the need.
The engine makes 268 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, which reaches all four wheels through a continuously variable transmission (CVT). With that amount of power on tap, the QX55 isn’t slow, but it’s nowhere near as sporty as its styling suggests.

Interior
The upscale QX55 comes standard with leather-upholstered, heated front seats. It seats five, but unlike the QX50, it has a sloped roof that cuts into headroom in a big way. The front buckets are spacious and nicely supportive, but adults may feel the pinch in the back seats, where the roof has a more noticeable impact. The interior is otherwise nice and offers good material quality that gives it a premium feel throughout.
Technology
Like the QX50, the QX55 gets a dual-screen infotainment system that includes a 7-inch lower screen and an 8-inch upper display. Wired Android Auto is standard, but Apple CarPlay gets wireless functionality. While it brings a decent number of features, the interface can feel clunky and old, and it needs more processing power to become user-friendly.
Safety
The QX55 hasn’t received complete crash testing, so it’s not eligible for a 2024 Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick award. It gets a long list of standard safety tech, though, including automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lan- keep assist, automatic high beams, and more.

Pricing and Release Date
As of this writing, the base QX55 Luxe starts at $51,500, which includes a $1,350 destination charge. The mid-range Essential trim starts at $55,100, and the top Sensory trim costs $57,800.
