What’s New for the 2024 BMW M2
Following a 2023 redesign, there are few changes for the 2024 model year.
Design
The 2024 BMW M2 boasts an aggressive, muscular design, featuring flared wheel arches and the distinctive twin-kidney grille. The M2 rides on 19-inch front and 20-inch rear alloy wheels. It also boasts a dual exhaust and an available carbon-fiber roof. The available Shadowline package adds black wheels and dark exterior accents.
Powertrain
The BMW M2 is equipped with a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine which produces an impressive 453 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent through a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional eight-speed automatic, both paired with rear-wheel drive (RWD).
With the automatic transmission, the M2 achieves a fuel economy of 16 mpg city, 23 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined. Selecting the manual increases highway fuel economy to 24 mpg. This powertrain requires premium fuel.
The BMW M2 accelerates from zero to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds when equipped with the automatic transmission. With the manual transmission, the zero-60 time is 4.2 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph. The 177-mph top speed can be unlocked by selecting the M Driver’s Package, which consists of a one-day performance driving course at a BMW Performance Center. The M2 features a performance chassis that makes it a dream to pilot around tight backroad corners or to spend time out on the track.
Interior
The M2 provides seating for four passengers, with 13.8 cubic feet of trunk space, which can be expanded thanks to split-folding rear seats. Standard features include leather upholstery, power-adjustable and heated M Sport front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, remote keyless entry, a panoramic sunroof, and ambient cabin lighting with multiple color selections. The available Carbon Package features carbon fiber sport bucket seats and carbon fiber interior panels.
Technology
The 2024 BMW M2 features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.9-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a Harman Kardon surround-sound stereo, satellite radio, and Bluetooth all as standard infotainment features. Available options include wireless device charging and 5G connectivity.
Safety
The 2024 BMW M2 is equipped with a robust suite of standard driver-assistance features, including forward-collision warning, rain-sensing windshield wipers, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, pedestrian and cyclist detection, and front and rear parking sensors. Additional available features include a head-up display, stop-and-go adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera system, and automatic high beams.
Pricing and Release Date
At the time of this writing, the base MSRP for the 2024 BMW M2 starts at $63,200. The Carbon package costs $9,900, and the M Driver’s Package costs $2,500. The head-up display is a $1,1,00 standalone option, and the carbon-fiber-reinforced roof costs $2,600. The M2 is available in dealers now and it is backed by BMW's four-year/50,000-mile warranty.
