The CarGurus verdict
The Stelvio is a blast to drive but let down by old technology.
It’s not often you see an Alfa Romeo on the road today, but when you do, it’s an experience. The Italian manufacturer pours intricate style into its vehicles, ensuring they look nothing like the egg-shaped blobs that often run around our city streets. If a Lexus RX is a perfectly acceptable Nordstrom house brand, the Stelvio is straight out of Prada.
Named after the sinuous Stelvio Pass in the Italian Alps, the Stelvio is offered in Sprint, Ti, Veloce and the bonkers Quadrifoglio trim levels. The base Sprint trim gets rear-wheel drive (RWD) but all-wheel drive (AWD) is standard elsewhere. Across the board, the Stelvio exhibits a masterful chassis and zippy turbocharged engines. However, it is plagued by old technology and it faces stiff competition.

What owners say
"Overall, owners of the 2022 Alfa Romeo Stelvio are enthusiastic about its fun driving experience and stylish design. Many appreciate the luxurious interior and advanced features, although some mentioned minor issues like small screen size and high dealership fees. The comfort of the seats and the sporty performance are frequently favorably noted, making it a desired option for those seeking an Italian flair in an SUV."
This car is awesome. Great features wish it had cooling seats as well. Good technology package and it looks sleek and stealthy. Would highly recommend
September 4, 2025Outstanding list of features. Learning about all of them can be a complicated process. The price we paid feels like a great value. A power outlet in the rear hatch area would be a nice addition. Fun to drive.
July 31, 2025Great sporty gas saver with the Italian feel of luxury

July 12, 2024Love this car! Enjoying amazing options and gorgeous styling on this Alfa Romeo Stelvio. This is the second one we have owned and will return to this car time and time again!
July 17, 2024Quadrifoglio model is a fantastic small SUV to drive. It handles just as or better than a comparable Porsche Macan. The paddle shifters are huge and easier to use than any other paddle shifter available.
August 17, 2022This car is fun to drive and is the sexiest SUV out there. I have the “Veloce” model with Vesuvio gray with red leather that screams Italian. It has all the bells and whistles that are available these days. I do miss the “hold” braking feature my Mercedes had for stop signs. The seats in the Alfa are amazingly comfortable. Buy a used one with low mileage as they depreciate a lot in the first couple years. As a long time Alfa owner of several vehicles, I didn’t consider another make.
June 2, 2024The car is better than expected, loaded with high tech features, screen is a little small.
April 19, 2023We already own a 2018 Stelvio and like everything about it including its reliability. That car has been my wifes and we purchased a new one for her and I am keeping the one we already own for myself.
