Noteworthy changes for 2018 include additional standard features for the base ES trim–a 7-inch touchscreen control for the audio system, Bluetooth connectivity, and a reversing camera. The SE and GT trims add a driver’s seat armrest.
All Mirage trims come with the same 1.2-liter 3-cylinder engine that produces 78 horsepower and 74 pound-feet of torque. Yes, those are low power numbers, but they are offset by the fuel efficiency. Paired with the continuously variable transmission (CVT), standard on the SE and GT trims and an option on the base ES, the Mirage gets 37 mpg city, 43 highway, and 39 combined. With the 5-speed manual transmission (standard on the ES; not available for the SE or GT), the Mirage gets 33, 41, and 36.
The base ES trim comes standard with air conditioning, USB port, remote entry, new 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, and reversing camera. Drivers interested in an automatic can equip the ES with one for $1,200 or opt for the SE or GT trims.
Moving up a level to the SE trim adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Compatibility. They connect the audio system to your smartphone and allowing access to music, maps, and texts through the 6.5-inch touchscreen. Other notable additions for the SE ($16,095 MSRP) include cruise control, automatic climate control, and a 6-way adjustable driver’s seat. At $16,595 MSRP, the GT trim adds a few upgrades–-heated front seats, xenon headlights, and 15-inch, two-tone alloy wheels.
Despite its size, the Mirage offers decent cargo space for its class—17.2 cubic feet with the rear seats up and 47 cubic feet with rear seats down. Thanks to its large front doors, the Mirage is also easy to enter and exit. And, with narrow roof pillars in the front, the Mirage offers good sight lines.
Mitsubishi stuffed some solid safety features into its small car, including: active stability control, hill start assist, anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist, tire pressure monitoring system, and Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body construction that utilizes crumple zones to route and absorb energy during high-impact collisions.
The Mirage offers a reasonably smooth ride with strong brakes to help you avoid high-impact collisions in the first place. Mitsubishi’s 2018 Mirage is all about economy and efficiency, and it nails both of those categories.

Its a cute car that does what it needs to do. Gwt you from point A to point B. The back seats dont fold down flat, which is a bummer, but not that big of a deal. It doesnt have cruise control, either. But generally its close enough to exactly what I needed. Small, with great gas mileage. The sound system is nice and I like the back up camera.May 21, 2022
