Compared to the Honda CR-V and Toyota Rav 4, the Mazda CX-5 has much more leg room. Im 6 1/2 and while my left foot can fully extend in the Honda and Toyota, it was pretty much jammed between the footrest on the left and the brake on the right. The Nissan Rogue was the worse. The emergency brake extends right into a tall persons left shin. With the Mazda CX-5, not only can you extend your leg fully (with additional room to spare), you can also move it from side-to-side several inches on each side, which becomes crucial on lengthy trips.

I think this car is a safe vehicle. Good on fuel. Nice interior design. A bit low on power unless you get the turbo engine.

Professional reviews complain about the seats, but it was one of the best I have sat in. 7 straight hours driving and I was consciously aware of how good my butt felt throughout. Decent amount of pep for this car, but a bit of dead-band from cruising to accelerating. I wish the the lane assist was more lane centering, but the vibrate option is great to alert. Very quite for this class and much better than the 2016 models. The looks cannot be beat in 2017. The command dial is ridiculously easy and intuitive.

I found the overall car a good vehicle, however, I found that doing my research through consumer reports the 2018 is a better fit for what I am looking for in a suv. The 2017 is good, but the 2018 is even better. I am going with the 2018

I test drove the 2015 or 2016 CX-5 Sport about two years ago and was not impressed. Wish I drove the 2017 CX-5 Touring back then! What a difference from the original model for the interior, the steering and handling! As most others believe, wish it was a little faster and there was a little more cargo space, but the benefits outweigh the pickup and cargo concerns! With the traffic volume in NJ there are not many opportunities to drive fast and I dont haul a lot of cargo. Just as sporty and luxurious as Acura RDX, Audi Q5 and BMW X3 for half the price! Hope this a keeper for 10 years!

I don’t know if 2017 is the right year, it always has to do with the combo of price, miles, and car history but the Mazda CX-5 is an amazing car. Test drive one if you are considering a compact SUV.
